Welcome to the WestShore Community Awards 2013—a celebration of the West Shore’s finest citizens, businesses, employees and more! 

The WestShore Chamber of Commerce serves five different municipalities – Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, View Royal and Highlands. These communities are woven together with many outstanding businesses, organizations and individuals that are truly making a difference in the lives of their fellow citizens and the greater public.

Nominations for 2013 will open in the spring. Stay tuned!

WestShore Community Awards Dinner

The WestShore Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate all finalists and winners of the 2012 WestShore Community Awards. It truly was a wonderful evening of celebration for the amazing individuals and businesses in our community.  We would also like to thank our generous sponsors who made this event possible and our Volunteer Awards Committee--we couldn't have done it without you!

Time: 6:00pm cocktails, Dinner served at 7:00pm

Location: Royal Colwood Golf Club - 629 Goldstream Ave, Langford BC

Tickets:  $75 plus tax includes full buffet dinner & 1 drink

Community Service – Business or Individual  

presented by Peninsula Co-op

These individuals and businesses have dedicated their energy towards supplying the community with a substantial amount of their personal time, encouraging and engaging others in community events, functions and have played a supportive role in the West Shore.
Healthy Communities - Individual This individual has gone above and beyond the average community citizen's role and is educating and supporting their fellow community members towards a broader understanding of the needs of the West Shore. This includes economic, social, or environmental needs.;

Business Integrity – Business or Organization  

presented by Peninsula Co-op

This business continuously supports the West Shore through its honesty and high ethical standards of behaviour towards customers, suppliers, users, shareholders, employees, and communities in which they do business.
Environmental Stewardship – Business or Organization This business or organization helps to improve the quality of life in the West Shore by promoting and demonstrating outstanding environmental leadership. It engages in energy conservation through technological and habit changes in practice and employee behaviour, has switched to cleaner technologies and takes steps to prevent, reduce and eliminate waste streams associated with their product and service.

Civic Leadership - Individual  

presented by Alpine Group

This individual demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities by their commitment to and involvement in a wide variety of activities that support the West Shore. The nominee’s voluntary contributions aim at creating positive change within community.
Outstanding Customer Service – Business or Organization This business has a proven track record of high quality customer service and satisfaction. They understand the customer and make every effort to provide a customer experience that exceeds expectations.
Resilience Award – Business or Individual This award is for a business or individual that has overcome business or personal challenges and has shown true tenacity, determination and strength in the face of adversity. They have proven they can withstand tough economic times and continue to grow while also giving back to the community.
New Business Excellence - Business This award is for a business of 5 years or less in operation that is thriving and contributing to overall WestShore community. They have demonstrated business excellence through superior customer service and commitment to quality. They take action towards environmental responsibility and have an active role in the community with charitable involvement or volunteering.
Young Entrepreneur - Individual This award honours a young entrepreneur (30 years or younger) that recognized an opportunity, accepted the challenge and took a risk to make it happen. The nominee may have founded a business, purchased an existing one and turned it around, changed their business model, or diversified or expanded a business on the West Shore in the last 5 years.
Employee of the Year - Individual This award honour an employee who has demonstrated a sustained dedication and commitment to their work, provided outstanding customer service, or has initiated improvements in the workplace. The employee must be nominated by their employer, management or colleagues.
Non-Profit Organization of the Year Nominees are non-profits who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in economic, social, charitable or environmental activities which contribute to the community and help to make the West Shore a better place for its citizens.

Business of the Year - (1 person operation/home base)

Nominees are businesses who have demonstrated continual business excellence through positive business growth; have exemplified superior customer service and embraced commitment to quality. They take action towards environmental responsibility and have an active role in the community with charitable involvement or volunteering.

Business of the Year (2-19 employees)  

presented by The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa

Nominees are businesses who have demonstrated continual business excellence through positive business growth; have exemplified superior customer service and embraced commitment to quality. The business has provided job opportunities and excellent employee relations standards. They take action towards environmental responsibility and have an active role in the community with charitable involvement or volunteering.

Business of the Year (20+ employees)

Nominees are businesses who have demonstrated continual business excellence through positive business growth; have exemplified superior customer service and embraced commitment to quality. The business has provided job opportunities and excellent employee relations standards. They take action towards environmental responsibility and have an active role in the community with charitable involvement or volunteering.
